From Facebook page on 8/29/18: We hope to submit our plans to the city by next Friday. City permitting is 3-5 months and then there is repair time. We are hoping to keep the basics of what makes our bar great while modernizing the kitchen, electrical and plumbing. The new ceiling and floors will be different and better. It's gonna be new old. Thanks for supporting us on Multnomah Days and through all of this. We cant wait for our sign lighting party and seeing all of you.
Yes it will but it will take in my estimation at least 2 or 3 weeks probably
We’re grinding away over here. Keep your eyes on Facebook for updates.
July is almost here. When?
Ever since the kitchen fire it's been closed. Several months. I doubt it will reopen. They have to pull new permits and make ADA code. That's going to cost him a bunch. I hope they can reopen.
A remnant of old Portland has survived-- thrived, even. Great burgers, friendly staff and classic country music. Wash it all down with a cold beer, and it's like a little piece of paradise.
It's in an old building in the heart of Multnomah Village. Great dive bar.
I wish I knew about this place before either moved away from multnomah village, because I love it. The food is great, they had a special on burritos when I went. VERY friendly staff
Great prices, tons of delicious food!
The hubs and I were out enjoying a nice, sunny afternoon in Multnomah Village today and we walked by Renner's and saw some great food and went inside to order...2 different servers told us 2 times each we will be with you in a few minutes. This was fine until 20 minutes later a customer came in sat next to us and order was taken within 2 minutes as the server walked by, I said can we order now also? She replied I will be right with you and walked away. 10 minutes later and we walked out. It's too bad because this place would have been a place to tell our friends about...so sad...
Great people, great food, lovely place.
A very comfortable neighborhood bar with incredible food. The burgers are great, but the specials are phenomenal. Great drinks at good prices. The bartenders are knowledgeable and pour a decent drink. Service is very attentive and friendly.
This place is so charming and a wonderful hideout in Multnomah Village. We like to go for breakfast. Get a half order as the portions are enormous. Do yourself a favor and order a $3.50 Bloody Mary. They are delicious. I love the history in this tiny place and the service is wonderful. We will become visiting often. Note for parents- it is an adults only place AKA a bar.
Staff is beautiful the food is delicious the drinks are strong
These are great folks who aim to please and get it done. And Ice is the cutest ever.
Awesome food and good service. The place is rather small. The breakfast portions are huge - tried Collosus and French Toast. Fortunately you can get them in half-size, which we did. They are slightly higher than half price but also larger than half the meal so it works out perfectly fine and is a great deal for what you get. I knocked off one star just because of the bathroom! Tiny but not overtly yucky... definitely uncomfortable. It might be my least favorite bathroom in a restaurant ever. But I'd go back for the food!
Man the grilled chicken sandwich was bomb and I'm going back tomorrow to get more potato salad
The service was rough the day we went. I can't really blame the guy too much. He was alone in a packed bar doing everything. Once another person showed up things went smooth. The food was surprisingly good too.
It's really great! The servers are amazingly friendly and the Brew selection is really nice. And those jello shots are godly.
Bargain breakfast. Good beer and it's Monday. I work graveyards shifts so it is nice to stop over and they're open at 7:AM. 😁
Nice place to have a beer and burger. Staff were a bit rushed but ok. Tables were clean. Bathroom was also clean.
Good place to have some drinks, grab some food, and chill out or watch a game
Staff are always friendly, and personable. I would have recommended their chicken & waffles, but the last time I ordered them they were off. Looks like they changed cooks, and with several great breakfast options in the area, I haven't been back since.
It's nice here. I never had a chance to go before the fire happened. They're rapidly expanding their menu and everything I've tried is great. In particular I recommend the PB & Bacon Burger. The peanut butter is more like a kinda spicy, Thai style peanut sauce, and the salty bacon and tart pickle really pull it together in a delicious way.As of writing this post, they still don't have taps, and a lot of their staff have a general air of confusion, so I can't give it 5 stars yet, but I look forward to seeing their growth and changing my score as they settle back in.
Great local joint with good food at good prices. Friendly staff and within walking distance of some other great shopping.
Sunday morning breakfast is great. I drive from 30 miles away to eat there
Great neighborhood feel. Yummy food, drinks and bingo.
Its alright, come back in the midst. Order simple food and a stiff one.
It is fine but crowed in the rear. Will go back. 🌞
A great hole-in-the-wall tavern in the center of Multnomah Village. The staff here are feisty and friendly, and always provide good service. The menu is basic tavern food - hamburgers, hot dogs, and the like, but they have a few really great combinations and always do a solid job. Wednesday night bingo is fun, especially the drag queen bingo every third Wednesday of the month. It's a relatively small place, so adequate seating can often be a challenge.
Quite literally, the perfect bar. Great work you guys
Cool place with live music. Very big and nice.
First visit after their re-opening. Just as good as I remembered. Will be glad to see the menu expand in the coming months. Juicy Lucy burger is killer!
Glad to see this place open again. The menu is limited but the patio is wonderful. An excellent place to enjoy a pint and take in the local scene.
Got my food togo. Staff was friendly, but for my last few minutes and when I was at the counter, they were not wearing masks proper.. Also the bacon was way under cooked in my BLT.
Divey sports bar with great food. Big meals. Average beer selection.
The burgers are tasty and cooked perfectly. Good selection of beers. Friendly casual service.
Oh man, the smoked fried chicken - amazing. Loved it. The recipe is different than it was a year ago, but still awesome. Affordable food and drinks!
Good food, fun place to have a cocktail or three
Great pours, great prices, good food, and good service. Edit: after looking over the reviews, I feel this place is misunderstood. 1.YES it's a neighborhood dive (please don't change, the rest of Portland caters to hipsters already) but it's friendly and clean. 2. Sometimes you have to wait. This is universal, and not solely a Renners thing. 3. Watching "Bar Rescue" by no means makes you a restaurant entrepreneur.
Good cheap drinks and food. Exactly what you want out of a neighborhood bar.
The beer list has been updated and the help has changed over since last time. Better beer (yay!), still great help. Other than that the place hasn't really changed much since I discovered it and that is good. This is a favorite hangout for locals.Edit: Renner's is still closed (May 2018) after a fire in the kitchen. They're rebuilding: Renner's will ride again, but I don't know how much longer. The new owners say that quality food will be a higher priority than it was before.
Bhagat, lunch, or dinner this is one of my favorite places to eat. Laid back, dark, friendly staff. Food is amazing, definitely some foodie designer for the recipes.
Have not been here after the remodel. Great food. There is an off menu. On the off menu, which has a double hamburger with 2 grilled cheese sandwiches as buns. Huge beast. The waitresses said it's their most popular to go item. Today I had a salad,,,,,and onion rings.
Just had that Giant Club and boy they weren't kidding... that thing is HUGE! It was also delicious!
Great place for dive bar food and aesthetic.
Good location and nice restaurant. Delicious 😋
It's called the "five star dive bar." It's dark, divey, and the food is delicious. Definitely earns all 5 stars.
Last century, this used to be a barfly bar. Still has some of that "ambience", but the clientele is now more neighborhood-oriented. Menu recently overhauled and they now have pretty good pub grub. Plus, they have the "Suburban Room".
The place is small and cozy. More bar than grill. When I first got there, I was a little surprised by the pricing (being someone who is used to Denny's), but the food is definitely worth the price. Much better than Denny's. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Came here for a Jack and coke and some food on Friday eve. The cashier at John's Marketplace recommended it. The place was packed with people laughing and drinking and eating amazing food! I came for breakfast today!
It's good to have Renners back. Fun there this evening. Good food. Tasty drinks. Everyone was enjoying themselves.
Delicious food!!! Attentive staff. Limited space. Usually full weekend evenings.
What can you say about Renners. The place has this strange balance of awesome and weird. Service is typically good, can be a bit slow when busy but that's most dive bars. Prices are fair and the food is good, not great, but certainly good.
Been going here off and on since the late 80's. Good drinks and their brunch is delicious. Great atmosphere!
